Global Synthetic Ice is the proud sponsor of the International Goaltending Competition, held in eight cities, with the finals in Orlando, Florida. For the first time ever, the best goalies in each region will compete head to head to find out whom is the best goaltender. Global Synthetic Ice will have two warm-up rinks available at each location allowing the players to get ready for their turn in the competition. There is no doubt we will see some of these competitors on an NHL team in the future.

Super-Glide Ultra synthetic ice used on Oprah's Ultimate Weight Loss Finale!
As part of the Farewell Season of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tuesday, May 10th's episode will feature 100 Ultimate Viewers who each lost more than 100 pounds! Some of them will talk with Oprah about how their lives have changed, what they can do now that they could not before, and what exercises they use to keep the weight off.
Global Synthetic Ice was contacted by Harpo Studios about providing a synthetic ice skating surface which could be used on the show to feature one of the guests. After talking with us, they decided to buy enough Super-Glide Ultra panels to create an 8' x 32' rink for this guest to skate on.
After taping the show, a representative of Harpo Studios spoke with us and said that it was a very good experience working with Global Synthetic Ice on this project, and that the Super-Glide product was very easy to set up, and gave them no issues.

Here is the amazing time line:
1:30 pm at the location in Cuernavaca, Mexico. There is nothing but uneven rocks.
It's hard to imagine we'll be skating here in 6 hours.
2:30 pm We're putting down crushed rock, and compacting it to level the area.
3:30 pm We start laying the beginning of a 270 panel Super-Glide skating facility! (128’ by 64’)
5:30 pm We're half-way done…

Although we have assembled rinks this size many times, this was the quickest we have gone from nothing, to skating, for this size rink, in all of Super-Glide history.
