We shipped an order of Super-Glide Ultra panels to a gentleman by the name of Jared Polin last month. Jared is an accomplished photographer, videographer and all around nice guy. He runs a blog called Fro Knows Photo (did we mention that he wears his hear in a big ol' afro?), which hosts a great community of photographers, and he regularly posts instructional videos on YouTube on photography techniques.
Jared's latest video is all about how to shoot great hockey action photos, and features him skating around on his Global Synthetic Ice rink! It's a great instructional video if you want to learn about action photography. If you're no so interested in that, skip to the 22-minute mark where he tells you what he thinks of his rink.

The MGM Macau Hotel on the Southern coast of China has set up an incredible holiday display using Ultra synthetic ice and live figure skating shows as a centerpiece. Exciting news from Niki Warchola, our distributor in Germany. Germany is making a bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics in Munich! The video below is a film titled "The Festival of Friendship" scripted and directed by Jens Hoffmann of F24 Productions GmbH to contribute to that effort.
That news is exciting in itself, but what was of particular interest to us here at Global Synthetic Ice is that our product, Super-Glide synthetic ice, is used in the movie! About half-way through the film, the girl in the photo above is shown practicing figure skating at her home in the Swiss Alps on a cleverly disguised Super-Glide home rink. How cool is that?

After months of planning and fundraising, T.A. Norris Middle School has installed a 20' x 43' Super-Glide synthetic ice rink in an unused classroom at their school to allow their "hockey academy" to practice year-round. T.A. Norris is a school with about 280 5th through 8th grade students located in the scenic city of Peace River in Alberta, Canada.
Georges Laraque, Former NHL star and president of Super-Glide Canada, was on-hand last Friday to help with the installation and meet with the school children. After signing a few hundred autographs, Laraque said, "For me, it's awesome coming to these smaller communities because fans here don't often get a chance to see NHL players especially from the Oilers, so I'm very glad I got to come back and make a difference."
